PORTLAND, Ore. – Following an undefeated week in conference play, where the Montana State University Billings women's soccer team picked up four points with it's first win and tie of Great Northwest Athletic Conference play, starting goalkeeper Claire Brogdon was recognized as the GNAC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
 
"I'm very excited for Claire," said Yellowjacket head coach Abiye Jack. "She has been a solid presence in net from day one. She has had an incredible start to the season, and is still always looking to make small improvements to her game. It's great to see her receive recognition for her great play."
 
The freshman goalkeeper continued her impressive start to the season in net for the Yellowjackets, collecting a total 13 saves across both of MSUB's games this past week, and only allowing one goal to earn her first career Player of the Week honor. Brogdon opened the week on Thursday by making five saves in the Yellowjacket's 1-1 draw against Central Washington, with the Wildcat's lone goal coming from a penalty kick. The Gilbert, Arizona native made a number of crucial plays in addition to those saves, making multiple clearances and handling a number of crosses into the box with little issue. Brogdon was even more impressive in the Yellowjacket's first GNAC win of the season, making eight total saves in a 3-0 victory and keeping her fourth clean sheet of the season.
 
For the week, Brogdon made a total of 13 saves, while collecting a save percentage of 92.9%. She currently is tied for the GNAC lead for shutouts with four, with her 34 saves ranking second most in the conference, and her 85% save percentage sitting currently as the third best mark in the GNAC.
 
Brogdon and the MSUB women's soccer team take to the road this week for two more conference games, facing off against Western Oregon University on Thursday, October 10, before battling Saint Martin's University on Saturday, October 12.
