MISSOULA, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings track and field teams finished competing in the Montana Open, which took place over Friday and Saturday.
The Yellowjackets finished the meet with a number of standout performances, highlighted by another record-breaking triple jump from
Kendall Lynn. The senior broke her own school record in the triple once again, earning a mark of 11.99m (39' 4") on her second jump. Her mark was not only a school record, but good enough to finish in first place at the meet.
Behind Lynn, MSUB's women benefitted from many excellent performances. The women's 4 X 100 and 4 X 400 relay teams recorded their best times of the season. The 4 X 100 team consisting of
Bella Klein,
Mya Richardson,
Katelyn Hamill, and
Madison Thompson finished with a time of 49.41, the fifth fastest time in program history. Klein, Richardson, and Hamill were also members of the 4 X 400 team, joined by
Madeline Severson. The foursome ran a time of 4:10.09, finishing second at the Montana Open and entering the top ten times in program history.
In the individual events, Richardson finished sixth in the 400m with a time of 1:00.24, while Klein finished right behind her in seventh at 1:01.15. Both times were career bests for the two. Thompson was the Yellowjacket's top finisher in the 100m and 200m, setting a personal record in the 200m with a mark of 27.25.
Sophia Bohl also set her career best mark in the 200m with a time of 27.38.
Annelise Clark set personal records in both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles, finishing in 17.86 and 1:08.79 respectively. Clark's run in the 400m hurdles was good enough for fourth place at the meet.
Jaida Green finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 11.82 meters (38' 9.5"), and sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.79 meters (143' 8"). Green set her new PR in both events, beating her previous best in the hammer by more than five meters.
Ryann Moline set a personal best in the discus with a throw of 40.98 meters (134' 5"), finishing in fourth. Moline also qualified for the finals in the javelin, where her throw of 37.87 meters (124' 3") placed her in eighth. The Yellowjackets also got PRs from
Brynn Jolma in the hammer throw, with a mark of 39.02 meters (128' 0").
For the men,
Bradley Graves ran his season best in the 110m hurdles, finishing in third with a time of 15.49. Graves was also a member of the 4 X 400 relay team consisting of Ben Ralston, his brother
Kevin Graves, and
Lucas Harper, which set it's season best time with a time of 3:29.70. Ralston finished fifth in the 100m, running a time of 11.24. Bryce Olsen finished with his best triple jump of the season, bounding 12.86 meters (42' 2.25") and finishing in sixth.
Logan Straus finished third in the 5000m, finishing in 15:02.66, which was a career best. Jonny Rocha set personal records in both the 100m and 200m, running 11.67 and 24.18 respectively.
Forrest Cross excelled in the throwing events, highlighted by the discus, where his throw of 46.18 meters (151' 6") put him in third place.
Cort Sandefur set a personal record in the hammer throw with a mark of 38.99 meters (127' 11"), and finished eighth in the discus with a throw of 40.79 meters (133' 10").
Isaac Perkins was right behind Cross in the hammer throw, finishing ninth with a mark of 44.97 meters (147' 6"). Finally,
Brandon Geck made the finals in javelin, nearly beating his personal best with a mark of 48.45 meters (158'11").
THE BUZZ: Straus was selected as the St. Vincent Athlete of the Meet for the men, while Lynn was selected for the women.
UP NEXT: MSUB competes next at the Bengal Invitational, hosted by Idaho State at Davis Field. The meet will take place from April 28-29.
