BOZEMAN, Mont. – Competing against a field comprised of Division 1, Division 2, and NAIA competition, the Montana State University Billings Track and Field Program had a day full of excellent performances, chief among them record breaking performance by
Bradley Graves.
Graves, a sophomore from Ballantine, MT, broke the MSUB indoor record for 60m hurdles, a record previously set by Austin Lindquist in 2017 at 8.51. Graves clocked a time of 8.41 to beat that time, finishing in second for the meet. It becomes Graves's second school record for his career: he set the school record for the 110m hurdles outdoors last season at Idaho State University's Bengal Invitational.
On the men's side of things, it wasn't just Graves who performed well. In distance running,
Ase Ackerman topped the pack in the mile, finishing in 4:19.17. Behind him was
Logan Straus in 5
th with a time of 4:33.04, and
Carson Jessop in seventh at 4:39.50. Jonny Rocha continued to shave off time in both his events, setting new personal records in the 60m (7.33) and the 200m (25.01). In terms of jumpers,
Bryce Olson finished fifth in the triple jump (12.79), and sixth in the long jump (6.30m).
Isaac Perkins came close to passing his season best in weight throw, finishing eighth with a throw of 14.52m.
On the women's side of things, the 'Jackets excelled in long distance once again, with
Kailee Stoppel coming in second for the 800m with a time of 2:25.86. Behind her, the 'Jackets had a trio of top 10 finishes in program history. In the 60m dash,
Tatum Hull ran a 8.04, ranking third in MSUB history. Behind her was
Mya Richardson and
Madison Thompson, who ran an 8.12 and a 6.16 respectively, both personal bests. Richardson's time ranks sixth in school history, while Thompson's time comes in at eighth. Away from sprints, Hull finished in the top 10 in multiple events, finishing seventh in 60m hurdles (10.28) as well as in the long jump (5.17m).
