BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings volleyball team got its first class of 2022 recruit on Monday, as Faith Christian High School outside hitter Caty Havekost signed her letter of intent to play for the Yellowjackets next fall.

"We are so excited that Caty decided to join our Yellowjacket volleyball family," MSUB head coach Casey Williams said. "She brings so much experience, talent, and height to our outside hitter position and we can't wait to get her on campus in the fall."

The 6'2" Havekost finishes her prep volleyball career with several school records. She holds Faith Christian High School's single-game kills record (28), has the best single-game hitting percentage (.800), plus she is the program's all-time kills leader with over 823 amassed during her four-year varsity volleyball career. She made an immediate impact on her varsity team, leading the Eagles in blocks and hitting percentage as a freshman before gradually becoming her team's leader in more statistical categories throughout her career. As a junior, she led the team in kills, digs, hitting efficiency and overall points during the modified spring 2020 season.

Most recently, Havekost wrapped up her senior season by helping Faith Christian High School to a 20-8 record, including an 11-1 record in 3A Metro League play, plus a state tournament berth. This year, she was a first-team all-conference selection and was a team captain for the second-straight year. Throughout her career, the Eagles won three regional titles and made three state tournament appearances. Even during the coronavirus-addled spring season in 2020, Havekost was a first-team all-league selection and was an honorable mention all-state selection. In the classroom, Havekost made the honor roll all four years.

"From the first interaction I had with Casey over the phone, and after meeting her and Morgan Walters on campus, I knew that MSUB was where I wanted to be," Havekost said. "I am so excited to continue my volleyball career while getting an education, and being able to do that with a coaching staff and a team culture that I immediately felt was a perfect fit for me is amazing."

Havekost will join a MSUB volleyball program that is in the midst of wrapping up the 2021 season. Historically, Williams has had good fortunes recruiting players from Colorado, as Bayli Monck (Colorado Springs/Vista Ridge HS), Hannah Hayden (Lakewood/Lakewood HS) and Zoe Bibb (Littleton/Heritage HS) were all contributors this season.
