MSUB's women's soccer team claimed its second straight GNAC academic team title.

Yellowjacket women’s soccer, golf lead GNAC academics

PORTLAND, Ore. – Maintaining their status as top-performing academic teams, the Montana State University Billings women's soccer and women's golf teams won team academic awards for the 2019-20 school year announced by the Great Northwest Athletic Conference on Friday.
 
The Yellowjacket women's soccer team earned its second-straight academic title, posting a team grade point average of 3.65. That was five percentage points higher than second-place Northwest Nazarene University, and overall it was tied for the ninth-highest GPA of any sports team – female or male – in the conference. It is the third academic team title for the Yellowjacket women since the university joined the GNAC prior to the 2007 fall season. In addition to last year's title, the women's soccer program previously claimed the award after the 2011-12 academic year.
 
MSUB's women's golf team earned its second straight title after posting a team GPA of 3.64 to finish 18 percentage points ahead of second-place Simon Fraser University. The 2019-20 academic year marks the sixth academic team title for the Yellowjacket women, and the third time they have achieved back-to-back titles after accomplishing that feat from 2012-14 and again from 2015-17.
 
The Yellowjacket softball team finished in second place academically with a collective 3.49 GPA, just seven percentage points behind first-place Concordia University. The two champions and runner-up led the way to a fourth-place finish among female sports by MSUB overall, as the Yellowjackets earned 79 points in the rankings.
 
Concordia University claimed the overall Academic All-Sports championship with 177 points, with the school winning the men's title with 85 points and finishing third in the women's with 92 points. Northwest Nazarene University won the women's Academic All-Sports title for the fourth consecutive year.
 
The Academic All-Sports standings are based on the cumulative grade point averages of all the student-athletes on the official team rosters, including redshirts. Points are awarded in two-point increments.
