The Reserves
Annie DePuydt
Position: Shooting Guard
Hometown: Saco, Montana
Playing Years: 2011-2015 (4 seasons)
Feature Story: 'Fearless' DePuydt Back In Starting Role After Tackling Torn ACL
A four-year standout player for the Yellowjackets, DePuydt emerged into a starter beginning her junior season and played in 101 total games in her career. Just as she was beginning to play at her highest level – averaging a career-best 8.1 points, 1.6 assists, and 3.8 rebounds – a season-ending injury cut DePuydt's junior year short after 16 games started.
The injury proved costly for the 'Jackets, who were without their starting 2 guard in the regional championship game which resulted in a narrow defeat.
Always a steady presence in the lineup, DePuydt shot 43.8 percent overall in her career, while scoring 602 points and holding a positive assist-turnover ratio of 1.19. Academically, DePuydt was second-to-none as she was a four-time Great Northwest Athletic Conference Faculty Athletic Representative Scholar Athlete, and she earned academic all-conference honors each season she was eligible.
Kevin Woodin (DePuydt's Head Coach 2011-2015): "Annie was the ultimate team player. She gave everything she had on every play. She was a very fundamentally sound player and cared so much about her team."
Quinn Peoples
Position: Shooting Guard
Hometown: Butte, Montana
Playing Years: 2011-2015
Feature Story: Peoples-To-Peoples: Yellowjacket Experience Comes Full Circle
Another key guard playing alongside DePuydt for her four-year career, Peoples was another key reason the 'Jackets won the GNAC in 2013-14 and advanced to the Sweet 16. Peoples played in all 33 games that year, and ranked fourth on the team with 8.9 points per game thanks to her team-high 73 made 3-pointers.
The 23rd-leading scorer in school history, Peoples wound up with 1,101 points over her four seasons thanks in large part to her excellence from the arc. Her 236 made threes are second-most in school history, and her percentage of 34.3 from the arc ranks her No. 11 in school history.
Peoples saw action in 118 games – tied for fourth-most in school history – and was a two-time academic all-conference selection.
Kevin Woodin (Peoples' Head Coach 2011-2015): "Quinn could really stretch a defense for us with her quick release and excellent 3-point shooting. She made a lot of important baskets for us in her career and was a key part of the best freshman class I ever had at MSUB. Quinn had a great understanding of the game and came prepared every day."
Hannah Collins
Position: Point Guard/Shooting Guard
Hometown: Great Falls, Montana
Playing Years: 2017-2020 (3 seasons)
Feature Story: Hannah Collins Brings Another Gear To MSUB Women (Joe Kusek/Billings Gazette - November 25, 2018)
Collins came of age as a true freshman during the 2017-18 season, peaking down the stretch of her debut college season and playing a major role in helping the 'Jackets to the west-region title. During the team's seven-game playoff push, Collins averaged 6.6 points (two full points more than her season average) and 27.4 minutes coming off the bench.
Overall in her three seasons with the 'Jackets, Collins totaled 867 points for an average of 9.9 per game, including a career high average of 14.8 points per game as a sophomore in 2018-19. She was a second-team all-GNAC pick that season, before following with honorable mention all-league as a junior last year.
Collins' career free-throw percentage of 79.2 ranks her tied for sixth in school history, and she played in 88 games while starting 50 in her three seasons.
Kevin Woodin (Collins' Head Coach 2017-20): "Hannah really helped us late in her freshman year during our championship runs at the GNAC and west region tourneys. Her speed was a game changer and she protected the ball very well from the guard position. It was tough to lose her to injury during her junior season, as I thought she was playing some of her best basketball before she got hurt."
Honorable Mention
Jeanann Lemelin
Position: Point Guard/Shooting Guard
Hometown: Billings, Montana
Playing Years: 2016-2020 (4 seasons)
Feature Story: New Faces: MSUB Women's Basketball Freshman Jeanann Lemelin
Sticking close to her roots and representing her hometown school, Lemelin's career arc is one of the most dramatic among the all-decade selections. Although she saw action in all 28 games as a freshman in 2016-17, Lemelin scored just 20 points that season in limited minutes. Fast forward to her senior year and she was an honorable mention all-league pick after averaging 11.6 points per game and starting all 30 contests.
After playing her part off the bench during the team's regional run as a sophomore in 2017-18, Lemelin full emerged into a starter beginning her junior season. Saving her best season for last, Lemelin ranked second in the GNAC with 69 made 3-pointers and fourth in the league with a 3-point field-goal percentage of 40.6 last year. She also broke the school record for threes in a game, making 10 of 12 in a 32-point performance against Seattle Pacific on Feb. 22, 2020.
Overall she ranks tied for fourth in school history with 118 games played, and she finished with 575 points for an average of 4.9 per game. Lemelin was a three-time academic all-GNAC selection as well.
Kevin Woodin (Lemelin's Head Coach 2016-2020): "Jeanann improved as much as anyone I have ever coached during her career at MSUB. She went from being a non-factor on the offensive end to having one of the best 3-point shooting seasons in school history. Jeanann loved to guard and compete, and she was an elite defender both on and off the ball."
Shantell Marquis
Position: Point Guard
Hometown: Cascade, Montana
Playing Years: 2006-2011 (5 seasons)
Feature Story: A Fresh Chapter For MSUB's Marquis (Joe Kusek/Billings Gazette)
A recent MSUB Hall of Fame inductee, Marquis belongs in the starting lineup of the 2000s all-decade team and earned honorable mention on this list by virtue of playing her final season in 2010-11. Marquis led MSUB with 92 assists in her final year, while starting all 28 games and preparing to pass the point guard reigns off to a young Bobbi Knudsen. Marquis is No. 4 in school history with 472 assists, seventh in blocks with 85, and she still holds the single-game record with 10 steals on Jan. 26, 2008 against Northwest Nazarene.
Kevin Woodin (Marquis's Head Coach 2006-2011): "I moved Shantell to the point guard position early in her career and her game took off. She could really make our team go on offense with her ability to get the ball up the court, and with her speed and passing. Shantell was a tenacious defender and impacted the game on both ends in many ways."
Kalli Stanhope
Position: Shooting Guard/Point Guard
Hometown: Glendive, Montana
Playing Years: 2008-2012 (4 seasons)
Similar to Marquis, Stanhope was a key player for the 'Jackets early in the decade. A dual-sport athlete and inducted into the Hall of Fame for her golf career, Stanhope was no slouch on the hardwood either. She played in 110 games and scored 602 points, and her 140 made 3-pointers are 10th-most in school history. She also owned the single-game record with eight made threes, until Lemelin claimed that title last season.
Kevin Woodin (Stanhope's Head Coach 2008-2012): "Kalli was one of the most fundamentally sound players I have ever coached. She played both guard positions for us, could really shoot it, and she rarely turned the ball over. Kalli had a huge impact on both our women's basketball and women's golf programs during her time at MSUB."
Where is she now? Now Kalli Allen, she is married to MSUB head golf coach
Jeff Allen and resides in Billings where she is a store leader candidate at Scheels.
