GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Montana State University Billings women's golf wrapped up play in the RJGA Shootout at Estrella Tuesday afternoon and finished tied for 15
th place in an 18 team field in Goodyear, Arizona at Golf Club of Estrella (par 72 – 5909 yards). Cal State San Marcos shot 593 (288-305) to win the event. Jaime Jacob (Cal State San Marcos) shot 140 (68-72) to win individual honors, one stroke ahead of Alli Kim (Point Loma) who nearly caught Jacob with a 69 in round two.
For the second straight meet,
Avery Gill was the top scoring Yellowjacket, with a two round total of 162 (81-81). Gill tied for 57
th position and matched her score last week at the SFU True North Classic in Richmond, British Columbia.
Sydney Rochford was tied for 66
th with a score of 165 (83-82). Rochford showed the most improvement from last time out and was 17 shots better than at the SFU True North Classic.
Tierney Messmer (167, T-70),
Kinsey Irvin (167, T-74), and
Renae Heisler (175, T-83) were the other scoring members of the MSU Billings team Tuesday.
NEXT UP: The Yellowjackets play in the Dixie State Invitational September 30-October 1 in St. George, Utah at Sand Hollow Resort. Three courses remain on the MSUB fall schedule. The team will finish in the Leslie Spalding Cup in Billings October 19-20.
THE BUZZ: Sydney Rochford was named St. Vincent Healthcare player of the game for the Yellowjackets.
