GOLDEN, Colo. – Three inches of snow have canceled the 2019 season-opening baseball series between Montana State University Billings and Colorado School of Mines, announced the host school's athletic department on Friday.
Â
The Yellowjackets and Orediggers were scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday, before the series was shifted to a single doubleheader on Sunday after the initial snowfall. After further evaluation on Friday, Jim Darden Field was deemed to be unplayable for the weekend and the series was canceled before the Yellowjackets departed Billings.
Â
MSUB will now open its season at No. 17 Colorado Mesa University on February 15. Originally scheduled to be a three-game set, the 'Jackets will make up a game by playing a doubleheader against the Mavericks next Saturday instead of a single game. Start times and game details for the Saturday doubleheader will be updated in the coming days.
