Box Score DENVER – The Yellowjackets came up short in both games of a doubleheader against Metropolitan State University of Denver Friday afternoon at Regency Athletic Conference in non-conference softball action. Darby McGhee held MSUB to just a pair of hits in game one to earn a complete game shutout 6-0. The Roadrunners then used a four-run third and a five-run fourth to outscore MSU Billings 10-3 in game two.
The losses dropped the Yellowjackets to an even 6-6 record on the season while MSU Denver improved to 4-8 and took the season series between the two clubs 2-1. The Yellowjackets stay in Denver to play a doubleheader against Colorado School of Mines beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday.
"It was a tough day today," commented MSUB head coach
Jessica Rayman. "It took us a little bit to get going and our bats did not show up until the second game. I thought we did a good job coming out hot in the second game and Alyssa started off very strong in the first two innings. We hit well in the second game, but we just didn't have the timely hitting. We'll need to clean some things up on defense and set the tone for the game tomorrow. I am confident we'll be ready to go against Colorado School of Mines."
