PORTLAND, Ore. –
Sven Jeuschede from the Montana State University Billings men's basketball team earned all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference honors, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Jeuschede earned the award for the second time in his career. He joins six basketball players on the women's team this season who are receiving the award for at least the second time.
"Sven is very deserving of this honor and works hard both on and off the court," said MSUB head coach
Mick Durham. "Your seniors need to be leaders to be successful and Sven has been exceptional all year."
Jeuschede is a senior from Roesrath, Germany and has a grade point average of 3.47 in health and human performance with teaching option. On the court, Jeuschede is averaging 5.0 points per game this season along with 2.6 rebounds. He will graduate along with teammates
Hafeez Abdul and
Zack Rollins this spring but is the only senior who has been with the Yellowjackets basketball team all four years. As a freshman, he made three starts and 18 appearances. As a sophomore, Jeuschede stepped into a regular starting role and averaged 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds.
Jeuschede averaged a career high 7.2 points per game as a junior and continues to play well this season for the Yellowjackets. In addition to being a two time all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference academic honoree, Jeuschede also won GNAC player of the week December 4-10 as a junior.
Seattle Pacific led the GNAC with eight academic all-conference selections in 2018-19. Jarrett Gray holds the top GPA in the conference, with a perfect 4.0 while completing his master's degree in business administration. Northwest Nazarene University and Saint Martin's University had four selections apiece.
MSU Billings (11-11, 6-8 GNAC) is tied for the sixth and final playoff position in the conference standings and plays at home this week.
