BILLINGS, Mont. – Match-play golf hits the Magic City this weekend, as the Montana State University Billings and Rocky Mountain College men's and women's golf teams will square off in head-to-head action over a three-day event.

The Mike Grob Cup (men's) and Leslie Spalding Cup (women's) will begin Saturday and run through Sunday in Billings, in the final event for the Yellowjackets before the spring 2020 season.

"This is a unique event as everyone plays and it is the only match play event of our entire year," said head coach Jeff Allen. "I am looking forward to quality leadership and play from players that have experienced it before. It is a rivalry and is a lot of fun".

Lake Hills is formally MSUB's home course, while Peter Yegen is Rocky's. For the first time in the competition's history, Yellowstone Country Club will act as a neutral site to test both teams.

The Battlin' Bears claimed both cups a season ago, in an annual rivalry competition among the two local collegiate golf programs.

The Grob Cup and the Spalding cups are named after local Billings's golf legends, Mike Grob and Leslie Spalding. 2019 marks the fourth season they have been contested under their current moniker.
