BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State University softball team has announced they will be holding a winter pitching and hitting camp in December, 2019, a winter skills camp for athletes in January, 2020, and finally a Pitching/Hitting/Catching camp in February, 2020. Registration is now open for all camps and participants are encouraged to sign up early as spots will not be held or guaranteed for walk-up registration.
The MSUB coaching staff, as well as MSUB softball players will be on hand for all camps to give advice and tips for various positions and skills.
The winter pitching and hitting camp is scheduled for Saturday, December 14 for kids 5-to-12 years old, while Sunday December,15 is for ages 13 and up. Both days, camp will run from 8a.m. to 12p.m.Cost is $60/player per session, or $100 for both sessions. The camp will take place in the MSUB P.E. Building in the lower gymnasium.
Pitching will take place from 8a.m. to 10a.m. Some of the skills that will be focused on for pitchers include basic to advanced pitching mechanics, increasing speed and consistency, and mental aspects of pitching.
The hitting session will be from 10a.m. to 12p.m., players will be working on developing the fundamentals in order to increase bat speed and power. This camp will be capped at 30 participants for each pitching and hitting session per day.
The winter skills camp is set for Saturday/Sunday January 18-19 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will take place at the MSUB P.E. Building in the lower gymnasium. Registrations is $90/player and will focus on various skills such as proper throwing mechanics, position specific skills for each individual skill level, defensive strategy, and short game technique. Instruction, advice and drills with MSUB softball player and coaches will be available throughout. The winter skills camp will be capped at 50 participants.
The Pitching/Hitting/Catching Winter Camp is scheduled for Saturday, February 15 for kids 5-to-12 years old and Sunday, February 16 for kids 13 and up. The camp will take place at the MSUB P.E. Building in the lower gymnasium from 2p.m. to 6p.m. both days.
Players will participate in drills and skill building focused on pitching and catching from 2p.m. to 4p.m. and hitting from 4p.m. to 6p.m. Registration is $60/player, or $100 for both sessions. The camp will focus on skill development for all three aspects of the game and will be capped at 30 participants for each pitching/catching session.
Participants are asked to bring a batting helmet, glove, bat, indoor tennis shoes, a water bottle and batting gloves if needed. The P.E. Building will provide a safe environment with batting cages, hitting nets, tees and softball. To register please visit the
