ST. GEORGE, UTAH– The Montana State University Billings women's golf team completed play in the Dixie State Invitational Tuesday afternoon and finished 14
th in an 14 team field in St. George, Utah at the Sand Hollow Resort (par 72 – 6189 yards). Cal State San Marcos shot 582 (297-285) to edge out Simon Fraser University who shot 584 (292-292) as a team. Chisay Arai (Holy Names University) shot 141 (71-70) to win individual honors, one stroke ahead of Emily Leaung (Simon Fraser) who finished with a score of 142 (71-71).
Sophomore
Tierney Messmer was the top scoring Yellowjacket. She shot a season best two round total of 165 (81-84). Messmer finished tied for 55
th overall.
Sydney Rochford (171, 87-84) and
Kinsey Irvin (171, 90-81) finished tied for 64
th. Ivrin's nine stroke improvement from day one to day two was the biggest leap forward for any Yellowjacket.
Avery Gill shot a 173, which tied her for 66
th and
Renae Heisler shot a two round total of 175 tied for 70
th, were the other scoring members of the MSU Billings team Tuesday.
NEXT UP: The Yellowjackets play in the Concordia Invitational October 7-8 in Portland, Oregon at Riverside Country Club. This is the last road trip for the Yellowjackets as the team will finish at the Leslie Spalding Cup in Billings October 19-20.
THE BUZZ: Tierney Messmer was named St. Vincent Healthcare player of the game for the Yellowjackets.
