PORTLAND, Ore. – Western Oregon will forfeit all four games from its scheduled GNAC baseball road series last week vs. Montana State University Billings as a result of a decision by the WOU coaching staff to forgo traveling for the competition, commissioner Dave Haglund announced.
While weather conditions in Billings made MSUB's normal home fields unplayable for at least the start of the series, a suitable backup venue in Lovell, Wyo., had been arranged in advance by the Yellowjackets.
Under NCAA statistics rules, the games will count as forfeit wins and losses in the conference standings, but will not count in either team's overall win/loss record. MSU Billings remains at 19-11 overall and is now 18-6 in conference play. The Yellowjackets now have a four-game lead in first place, entering this weekend's series against Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho.
Doubleheaders are set for 1 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday at Vail Baseball Field on the NNU campus. Live video with play-by-play commentary and live statistics for all four games against the Nighthawks will be available online through the MSUB Stretch Internet portal here.
