TURLOCK, Calif. – The Montana State University Billings Softball team was 2-2 on Day 2 at the Tournament of Champions hosted by Cal State Stanislaus and presented by the Turlock Convention and Visitors Bureau.
 
MSU Billings won their first game against Cal State East Bay 5-2 and then in a rematch from earlier in the season, came out with a win against Cal State Dominguez Hills 5-4.
 
In game one, Montana State University Billings (12-16) opened up in the first inning scoring three runs on three hits.  Third up at the plate, Aubrey Conceicao belted her first homerun of the season on her first pitch to score three runs and give the Yellowjackets the lead.
 
Conceicao would add another RBI in the second inning with a single.  Katie Schermele also added in a run in the fifth for MSU Billings when she brought in Emily Osborn.
 
Conceicao would end the game 3-4 with four RBI's and the homerun.
 
Cal State East Bay's (15-22) two runs were off a two-run homerun by Ali Cerminara in the fifth inning.
 
After her marathon performance yesterday, Amanda Todd (2-6) pitched another complete game for the Yellowjackets.  In seven innings, she fanned seven hits while striking out nine batters to get the win.
 
Emily Perlich went five innings allowing all five runs while scattering seven hits and was credited with the loss for CSUEB.
 
After being shutout 0-8 in their first game of the season against CSUDH, the Yellowjackets were a different team this time around.  After four inning, MSUB took the early lead 2-1.
 
Down by one in the top of the fifth, Cal State Dominguez Hills (15-27) fired back adding three runs.  All three came off the bat of Adriana Sanchez as she belted a double into center field to clear the bases and give the Toros a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning.
 
MSU Billings would respond adding three runs to their total to regain the lead 5-4.  Five Yellowjackets had hits in the fifth inning including Conceicao and Taylor Hoke who were both 2-4 in the game.
 
Breanna Wilson and Samantha Jo Everett were both 2-3 with an RBI each.
 
For the Toros, Sanchez would finish the game 3-4 with all four of the team's RBI's.  Sanchez hit a solo homerun in the fourth inning to go along with her double in the fifth.
 
MSU Billings outhit CSUDH 10-4. 
 
On the pitching mound, Jessyka MacDonald (5-4) got the start for the Yellowjackets pitching five complete innings, fanning three hits and striking out six batters to record the win.  Mary Grace Bywater came in the game in relief, pitching two innings.  She allowed just one hit with no runs to record her first save of the season.
 
Jamie Duran (9-15) pitched all six innings for the Toros, fanning 10 while allowing three earned runs.

"Our team really played together today," Head Coach Lisa Allen said.  "Our pitchers worked the corners and kept the other teams at bay. The defense stayed strong behind the good pitching with some diving plays. The offense hit the ball hard and took advantage of errors all day.  I am really proud of the team; it was a great second day at the tournament."
