BURNABY, B.C.  – The Montana State University Billings Softball team has finished up their Great Northwest Athletic Conference schedule with three wins against Simon Fraser University, 14-7, 10-8, 11-6.
 
Today the Yellowjackets played a continuation of the game the teams had started yesterday as well as an additional double-header.
 
Montana State University Billings (18-20, 10-13 GNAC) and Simon Fraser had their first game suspended on Saturday after 5 ½ innings due to rain.  MSU Billings took a 9-5 lead into today's first contest.  In the bottom of the fifth inning SFU was able to add a run and get the game to within 3, 6-9.
 
MSUB would respond by adding four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh. In the two innings, the Yellowjackets scored five runs on five hits. 
 
Taylor Hoke ended the game 3-5 including a double and two RBI's.  Emily Osborn was 3-4 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's and a homerun in the game. 
 
For the three games Osborn was 7-12 with 5 runs, 11 RBI's and four homeruns.  In the three game series Osborn pounded out three singles and four homeruns.  She had one homerun in game one, two in game two, and another in game three.  The four homeruns take Osborn's total on the season to six.
 
Over the course of the three games, MSUB had 41 hits.  Including Osborn, four players hit a homerun.  Brittney Sanders was 6-9 with 6 runs and 6 RBI's, including four doubles and one homerun.  Breanna Wilson and Samantha Jo Everett also had a homerun.  They both hit theirs during game two.  Wilson finished game two, 2-4 with 2 RBI's from the homerun, which was her first of the season.  Everett hit her homerun during the seventh inning of game 2, to score three RBI's; the homerun was her second of the season.
 
Also notable during the series were the stolen bases.  The Yellowjackets had nine, including five in game one alone.  Bella Rovens had four, two in games one and three, which takes her total to seven on the year.
 
Getting the wins in the circle for MSUB were Amanda Todd (5-7) in game one as she pitched a complete seven innings, fanning seven hits, giving up seven runs, and striking out six.  In game two, Mary Grace Bywater (5-3) pitched 6 and 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and eight runs.  Jessyka MacDonald came into the game for 2/3 inning to earn the save, her second of the season, facing two batters while allowing no hits or runs.  Amanda Roark (1-4) went the distance in game three, fanning eight hits and allowing six runs for the win.
 
Simon Fraser (4-31, 2-17 GNAC) had 24 hits in the three games, almost half the number of MSUB hits.  The Clan also stranded too many runners and had four total team errors.
 
"Our team did a great job all day making adjustments to their pitchers and continuing to score runs throughout the games," Head Coach Lisa Allen said.  "Our pitching staff did what they needed to do. After giving up a hard hit they made the adjustment needed. Although we had a couple of errors on defense we stayed calm and made the next play. We did extremely well with getting the lead out several times. It was a great way to finish out the GNAC conference."
 
While the three games were the last conference games of the season for MSUB, next week the Yellowjackets will travel to Great Falls for two games on Saturday, Apr. 26 beginning at 12 pm.
