Yellowjackets take Final Conference Road Trip

BILLINGS, Mont. - The Montana State University Billings Baseball team heads out on their final Great Northwest Athletic Conference road series against Northwest Nazarene University, Friday the 28th and Saturday the 29th.
 
The Yellowjackets (6-18, 5-7 GNAC), currently sitting fifth in the conference, are coming off a 2-2 four game series split with Central Washington University last weekend.  MSUB continued to recive outstanding production from Kevin Toon and Brody Miller.  Toon was 10-17 on the weekend while Miller was 7-15.  Combined the duo produced six hits and five RBIs in MSUB's game 1 victory 8-2.  In game one, Matt Eames struck out six CWU batters and allowed two runs in just six innings to earn the win.    
 
MSUB dropped the next two games before dominating game four when they exploded for eight first inning runs.  Toon was 3-5 with three more RBIs in game four. 
 
NNU (10-15, 6-6 GNAC) is currently in second place in the GNAC and wil be coming off their bye week.
 
Miller is continuing to leads all GNAC batters with a .419, but Toon is close on his heels at number two in the league with a .418.  Miller is third in the conference in slugging percentage at .570; is number one in on base percentage (.523) and hits (36).  He is also fourth in RBI's (17), tied for third in home runs (3) and leads the GNAC in walks (19).
 
Toon is fourth in the league in slugging percentage (.509), tied for ninth with 13 RBI's and is tied for 12th with five doubles. 
 
Luke Reinschmidt is third for the Yellowjackets in batting average with a .284.  He has 25 hits (tied for 10th in the GNAC) on the year and eight RBI's.  Six of the hits have been doubles and he is tied for second in the league with two triples. 
 
Brad Birch is second on the team and fifth in the GNAC with 16 RBI's.  He is currently batting .205 with 17 hits and is tied with Miller for third in home runs in the conference with three. 
 
Trevor Nix is fourth on the team with a batting average of .236, followed by Bret Bitow with a 2.33.  Bitow also leads the GNAC in triples with three.  Next comes Connor Holbrook batting .222, Steven DeYoung at .209 and Casey Merritt with a .205 as well. 
 
Eames (1-3) is currently 11th in the GNAC with an ERA of 5.12.  He has 16 strikeouts on the season and has allowed 33 hits to go with 21 runs in 31.2 innings pitched.  Joe Andriolo (0-2) also has an ERA of 5.12 going 19.1 innings allowing 20 hits and 16 runs while striking out eight opposing batters.  Brady Muller (1-2) has an ERA of 5.14 allowing 20 runs and 30 hits while striking out 15 batters in 21.0 innings of work.
 
Jake Mills (2-2) has the lowest ERA amongst the Yellowjacket pitchers with an ERA of 2.38.  Through 22.2 innings pitched, Mills has 26 hits and just six runs while striking out 17 batters.  Jake Campeau has the most strikeouts for MSUB at 26 followed closely by Drew Christina who has 22 on the season. 
 
"The NNU series is always a battle for us," head Coach Rob Bishop said.  "Home or away they have always been a tough opponent.  Their new head coach has them playing well and the series should be a good one.  With only 2 games separating second place from last place each game in the GNAC is a pivotal one."
 
The first pitch of game one is scheduled to be thrown out at 4:00 PM MT on Friday Mar. 28 with game three beginning at 12:00 PM MT on Sat. Mar. 29th.
