Softball Finishes Week with a Winning Record

Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Montana State University Billings Softball team wrapped up their busy week of play with their last game on Sunday, Feb. 9.

MSU Billings (5-4) lost their final game of the Fifth Annual Desert Stinger to Cal State Dominguez Hills (6-4) by a score of 0-8.

The combination of the pitching performance from CSUDH's Jamie Duran, and some strong bats from the Toro's line-up proved to be a powerful mixture as MSU Billings ended their tournament with a loss, but left Las Vegas with a great experience.

"Overall we had a great week and are coming home with a winning record," Head Coach Lisa Allen said. "The teams we lost to are teams we will see in post season so it was a good lesson for us for what is to come."

Catherine Brown led CSUDH with three of the team's 13 hits.  She had two doubles as four players for the Toros recorded a double in the game.

For MSU Billings, Bella Rovens, Taylor Hoke, and Samantha Jo Everett had the three hits of the game for the Yellowjackets.

With the win, Duran moves to 3-3 on the year as Cal State Dominguez Hills has now won six games in a row.

Pitcher Amanda Todd (0-3), who was in for four innings until relieved in the fifth by Jessyka MacDonald records the loss for the Yellowjackets.

MSU Billings has some time off until their next game, at home against Dickinson State on Feb. 22.  That double-header is slated to begin at 1 PM.  Live video and live stats can be found for that contest at MSUBSports.com

"We have had a long week and we learned some things we will need to work on," Coach Allen stated.  "We look forward to getting back out on the field after some needed time off."
