BILLINGS, Mont. – MSU Billings is in Hawai'i for a trio of games this week. The Yellowjackets play a single game against Hawai'i Pacific on Tuesday, before heading to the O'ahu Thanksgiving Classic basketball tournament where the team plays a game on Thanksgiving against Hawai'i Hilo and then one Friday versus Chaminade.
Last Saturday, the MSUB women's basketball team opened their home season with a win over Rocky Mountain College. After dropping their opening regular season game against CSU-Pueblo, the Yellowjackets are on a three-game win streak and look to continue the momentum as the team heads across the Pacific for three tough away games.
Tuesday, Nov. 24, 7 p.m., Moanalua High SchoolLive stats: HERELive video: HERE (pay-per-view)Hawai'i Pacific University Sharks2014-15 Record: 2-1Head Coach: Reid Takatsuka2013-14 Record: 18-10, (13-7 PacWest) First up for the Yellowjackets is Hawai'i Pacific on Tuesday. The Sharks were picked fourth to finish in the PacWest this season and have opened up the year with a 2-1 mark. HPU was in Nampa, Idaho for the start of the season and began the year with a big 100-81 win over Northwest Nazarene before dropping a game against Central Washington 68-63.
Back home in Hawai'i, the Sharks won a game against the University of Minnesota-Crookston, 85-77 on Sunday to put the team one game ahead of .500.
On the court, HPU's Morganne Comstock is averaging 20.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. The preseason all-conference selection was the PacWest leading rebounder and tops in field goal percentage last year. The Eastern Washington transfer in 2013 is off to a good start in 2014 and is No. 2 in the PacWest in scoring and No. 12 in rebounding. Comstock is leading the conference in field goal percentage shooting 59.2 percent from the floor.
As a team, HPU is shooting 47.5 percentage overall and 39.4 percent from 3-point territory. Against NNU, Hawai'i Pacific hit 14 3-point buckets and Sunday against Minnesota-Crookson, HPU finished 10-22 from beyond the arc for 45.5 percent.
Senior guard Kyle Huerta is averaging 8.3 assists for HPU. The 5'1" guard from Covington, Wash., dished out 14 against NNU and is ranked No. 1 in the PacWest. Huerta is averaging 17.0 points and is shooting 90 percent from the free-throw line.

The Series: MSU Billings has played and beaten Hawai'i Pacific twice before. The Yellowjackets won the first game in 2008, 86-71, and the second game 72-69, in 2011.
Thursday, Nov. 27, 1 p.m. HST, McKinley High SchoolUniversity of Hawai'i at Hilo Vulcans2014-15 Record: 0-2Head Coach: David Kaneshiro2013-14 Record: 9-16, (8-12 PacWest) On Thanksgiving, the Yellowjackets play the first of two games at the O'ahu Thanksgiving Classic. MSU Billings is set to play the Vulcans for their first game at McKinley High School. Hawa'i Hilo is 0-2 so far on the year with losses against Minot State and the University of Minnesota-Crookston.
UHH is averaging 61.0 points per game, but is shooting 39.0 percent as a team. Mckenzie Mangino is averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Vulcans. Jordan Kealoha is tops on the team in assists with a 4.5 average per game.
The Series: MSUB has one previous encounter with the Vulcans. MSUB lost the game 49-48 back in 2011.
Friday, Nov. 28, 5 p.m. HST, McKinley High SchoolChaminade University Silverswords2014-15 Record: 0-2Head Coach: Bobby Keanini2013-14 Record: 3-23, (3-17 PacWest) The Chaminade Silverswords have also started off their season with an 0-2 record. The team traveled to Fairbanks, Alaska and dropped games against both Alaska and Alaska Anchorage to start off regular season competition.
Chaminade is shooting 37.9 percent from the floor and is averaging 35.5 rebounds per game. The Silverswords are making 75.0 percent of their free-throws, but averaging a conference-high 31.0 turnovers per game.
Glacen Florita is leading Chaminade in points, averaging 12.5 per game. Shana Kawakami is not far behind Florita, averaging 11.5 per game. Off the glass, Katie Buskey and Kawakami are both pulling in 5.5 rebounds per game.
For Chaminade, Kawakami is the assist leader with 3.0 per game.
The Series: The Yellowjackets have won both previous contests against Chaminade. MSUB won the first meeting 83-32 in 2008, and 84-76 in 2011.
MSU Billings is now 3-1 on the season. The Yellowjackets won games against Chadron State College and Rocky Mountain College last week.
The Yellowjackets have three players averaging in double-digits.
Sophomore forward
Alisha Breen is No. 6 in the GNAC averaging 17.3 points while senior forward
Kayleen Goggins is No. 7 averaging 16.8 points. Senior forward from Butte, Mont.,
Quinn Peoples is No. 11 with 15.5 points per game.
Led by Breen's 8.3 rebounds per game, the Yellowjackets have four players in the league's top-15 in rebounds. Peoples has 7.5 and is tied for No. 8 in the GNAC.
The Yellowjackets are shooting 40.5 percent from the floor and 38.5 percent from 3-point range. The team is also pulling in an average of 44.5 rebounds per game and committing 14.8 turnovers per game.
As a team, MSUB is averaging 76.0 points and 15.8 assists per game.
"Our team is very excited about going to Hawai'i for three games," Woodin said. "It is a great opportunity to play three regional counting games while also enjoying some time in the nicer climate."
