Box Score
McMinnville, Ore.  – Drew Fosnes and Colter Sternhagen highlighted a five-run sixth inning with a pair of RBI doubles to left center as Montana State Billings baseball team cruised to a 10-5 victory over Linfield College, Tuesday afternoon at Roy Helser Field. The Yellowjackets improve to 4-14-1 on the season.

MSUB had 10 hits total compared to the Wildcats nine; with Brody Miller leading the way with a game high four hits (4-6), while also recording one run and two batted in. Dana Hill scored a game high three runs, and Fosnes' three runs batted in was also a game high. Justin Harcharick, Fosnes and Sternhagen all posted one double each on the day.

The Jackets' arms also had a great day at the park. Lucas Blehm, Kole Mickolio, Jay Dempster and Travis Vincent all put in quality work on the mound. While Blehm got the start, Dempster notched his first win of the season (1-0) and finished with a team high three strikeouts while only allowing two hits in three innings pitched.

Linfield's Joseph Stevick was a quality opponent, tallying six strikeouts in four innings on the mound. Nick Fisher helped the Wildcats cause with three hits (3-4), one double, two runs batted in and one scored. Kramer Lindell hit his first home run of the season.

The Wildcats held the 3-1 lead heading into the top of the fifth, when MSU Billings evened the score as Hill scored off Colby Robison's walk, and Harcharick crossed on a wild pitch. The Yellowjackets shutdown Linfield in the bottom of the inning, only giving up one hit and leaving one on base.

The turning point came in the top of the sixth as MSUB tacked on five runs with a Miller single and Fosnes and Sternhagen doubles. With an 8-4 lead entering the final inning, the Jackets added two runs to secure the victory, eventually closing out the contest 10-5.

Linfield falls to 10-2 on the season.

“The story today was our pitching,” stated third year head coach Rob Bishop. “All of our guys threw the ball very well and gave our offense a chance to settle in. Linfield is a solid club, and I am happy with how we competed today.”

The Jackets now heads to Portland, Ore. to compete against Concordia University (NAIA) tomorrow, March 6 at 6:00 p.m. (Pacific Time).
