BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings Women's Basketball team won their game against Carroll College Friday, Dec. 13, 62-47.

The score was only MSUB 24, Carroll College 19 at the half, but it was a grind-it-out disciplined game the whole way through.

MSU Billings (7-3, 1-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) shot 39 percent from the field (11-28) including 1-7 from the three-point line and had only one free-throw in the first half.  At the half-way mark, Carroll College (6-3, 0-1 Frontier Conference) shot 28 percent (7-25) and was 3-15 from three-point land.

"The first-half was low-scoring, but it wasn't just poor shooting, I think it was how hard both teams were playing," Head Coach Kevin Woodin said.  "I also thought we missed some shots we should have made and some close ones early.  With them you don't get as many possessions."

MSUB's Annie Depuydt was the only player in double-digits for the first half.  She was 5-7 for 11 points.

The second half started off with six straight MSU Billings points.  The Yellowjackets used some effective play in the paint to go on a 14-5 run and open the score to lead by 16, 40-24.

"The second half we started to get in more of a groove," Coach Woodin stated. "I really like how the starting five started the first half.  The first six points of the half were off of defense.  We executed and shot the ball much better in the second half."

Both teams improved their shooting in the second half.  The Saints were led by Jordan Bagley who was 5-7 from the field and 3-3 from the free-throw line.  Bagley finished the game leading all scorers with 18 points.  Bailey Snelling finished with 10 points for Carroll.  Kalee Junkermier had a team-high eight rebounds.

"It was a great win for us, against a very good team," Coach Woodin said.  "Carroll is very disciplined on offense.  They run their sets very well, they share the ball well.  They were very tough to guard.

MSUB finished the night shooting 44 percent from the field.  They were 29 percent from the three-point arc.  They outscored Carroll in the paint 32-24 and came out on top in rebounds 32-27.  Where the Yellowjackets were the most disciplined was in second chance points, outscoring the Saints 15-3.

Carroll College shot the ball 34 percent overall, including 5-23 in three-point shots.  They were better from the charity stripe, going 8-15.

The Yellowjackets had a very balanced night in scoring.  Six players finished between seven and nine points in the game.  Depuydt finished with a team-high 12.  Bobbi Knudsen had nine points, six rebounds, and a team-high six assists.  Janiel Olson had a team-high seven rebounds, nine points, and four assists.

Tomorrow, Montana State University Billings will host two exhibition Alumni games.  The Men will start play at 2 PM, followed by the Women's game at 4 PM.  Both games will be free admission.  Live video and live stats for the contests will be available on-line at MSUBSports.com.

"The Alumni game is a great event," Coach Woodin stated.  "We will have several really good players coming back.  They have a lot of really tall players, most are over six feet.  And they have depth, there are 10 or 11 playing.  We are going to have our hands full, but we are excited to play tomorrow."

Next week MSU Billings will travel to Las Vegas, Nev. to take part in the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic.  They will face Texas Woman's on Dec. 19 and Drury University on Dec. 20.
