ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Montana State University Billings Women's Basketball team won their third game of the Disney Classic Tip-Off defeating Cal State East Bay 77-73 on Sunday.
 
Montana State Billings (1-2) led by as much as 17 points in the first half of a game that was a little bit of redemption for the Yellowjackets on their performance from the day before.
 
"I was really proud of the way our team competed today," Head Coach Kevin Woodin said. "We played poorly yesterday, but today the team responded with a great effort."
 
Bobbi Knudsen was two assists shy of a triple-double; she had 15 points, a team-high 10 rebounds and eight assists in the game for MSU Billings.  Annie DePuydt was a perfect 4-4 from the floor and 2-2 from beyond the arc.  She and Kayleen Goggins (6-10 including 2 three-point shots) both finished the game with a team-high 17 points.
 
Four minutes into the game saw the Yellowjackets go on an 18-3 scoring run that had Cal State Easy Bay (0-3) playing catch-up by the middle of the first half.
 
"Our team got off to a great start in the first half," Coach Woodin said. "We built up a double-digit lead, but give East Bay credit they fought back and made it really close at half time."
 
Cal State East Bay shot 40 percent in the game and had 33 team rebounds to MSUB's 42.  The Pioneers were led by Danielle Peacon who had a team-high 24 points and six rebounds.  Brianna Terrence added 18 points and Stephanie Lopez chipped in 11.
 
By half-time the Pioneers had cut the lead to two points and the teams went into the half MSUB 37, CSEB 35.  The second half was a much different story as MSU Billings lead by as much as 6, but each time Cal State responded to bring the score back, and with 4 minutes left in the game a lay-up by Cal State East Bay's Danielle Peacon brought the score to 68 all.
 
 "The second half was just a close game the entire way, neither team could pull very far ahead," Coach Woodin stated. "I thought it was well-played with a lot of great possessions."
 
A lay-up by Annie DePuydt and a three point-shot by Quinn Peoples put the Yellowjackets back up by four points with a minute left in the game.  A tip-in by Cal-State's Peacon pulled the Pioneers to within two with 12 seconds left, but the foul by CSEB's Stephanie Lopez sent DePuydt to the line for MSUB and she sealed the deal, making both shots, taking the score to a game ending 77-73.

 
The Yellowjackets finished the game shooting 50 percent over-all, a marked improvement from the day before.  Janiel Olson ended the game with 10 points and five rebounds.  Chelsea Banis (3-5 in the game and four rebounds) and Quinn Peoples (seven points, three rebounds) both finished with seven for the Yellowjackets.
 
"Over-all it was a great experience for the team to come down here," Coach Woodin said. "The quality of the teams we played was outstanding.  Even though we went 1-2, we showed some great improvement, and this will  help us get ready for our season-opener."
 
The Yellowjackets return home this week.  They will play their first home game against Chadron State Saturday, November 16 at 7 PM in Alterowitz Gymnasium.  The game is scheduled to begin at 7 PM.  Live video and live stats will be available at MSUBSports.com
