Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

SAINT GEORGE, Utah
– A Trevor Wilson grand slam in the first game of a doubleheader kept the Montana State University Billings baseball team from being swept by Dixie State University as the Yellowjackets with the Red Storm on Monday earning a 7-6 win in game-one before falling 0-5 in the second game at Bruce Hurst Field.

Following the doubleheader, the Yellowjackets now hold a 3-5 record for the young 2012 season while the Red Storm improve to 11-5 after posting a 3-1 record over MSUB.

In the first game of the day, MSUB posted a big, six-run inning in the top of the fifth inning after being down 3-1.

With Austin Rue, Ty Gilmore and Matt Comer all on base, Brady Miller ripped a single to score Rue to begin the drive. Cole McPherson was then hit by a pitch to score Gilmore.

With the bases still loaded, Wilson stepped up to the plate and ripped his grand slam over the left-center field wall, clearing the bases and putting MSUB up for good at 7-3.

The Storm was able to acquire three more runs in the seventh inning, but closer Bobby Ragasa held Dixie State at bay over the final two and two-third innings to give MSUB the win.

Brady Muller recorded his second win of the season on the mound for MSUB after going six and one-third innings while Josh Mooney suffered the loss for Dixie State to fall to 1-2 after four innings of work.

MSUB was unable to score any runs in the second game as the Yellowjackets' bats were eerily silent. Dixie State out-hit MSUB 8-2 as Tyson Littlewood hit his second home run of the day to lead the Red Storm to the five-run victory.

Hutchings suffered his second loss of the season as he pitched 4.1 innings and faced 19 batters. Sam Friend pitched six solid innings to record his third win of the season for Dixie State.

Gilmore led MSUB at the plate with a 2-3 performance at the plate over the two games that included scoring two runs in the day's first game.

Dixie State's Garrett Nash went 4-8 with two RBIs and a run scored in the doubleheader.

The Yellowjackets will now travel to Lacey, Wash. where they will look to open their 2012 Great Northwest Athletic Conference slate with a pair of doubleheaders this weekend against Saint Martin's University. Games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m., but due to weather, the games may be moved up to Friday and Saturday.
