BILLINGS, Mont
. -- The Montana State Billings softball team split a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference games Friday afternoon with the Western Washington Vikings, dropping the first game 3-2 and then bouncing back in the second with a walk-off dinger from junior Bobbie Lee.

The Yellowjackets are now 20-20 on the season and are 15-13 in conference play. With today's results, MSUB remains five games back of the Vikings in the conference standings.

Lee finished the day going 3-for-6 with two runs scored, a double, a home run and two RBI. The junior also slugged 1.167 and had three walks for a .667 on base percentage. Senior Kaycee Hoffman also homered, bringing the Jackets within one home run of the single-season team record (54) set back in 2009.

Game 1 MSUB 2 – WWU 3

Today's first game started off in the bottom of the third inning with the Vikings leading 2-1 after re-starting the game, which was halted due to rain yesterday afternoon. WWU began with two runners on board and tacked on their third run as Jackie Rothenberger hit an RBI-double to build the lead.

The Yellowjackets cut back into the lead in the fourth inning when Lee singled back up the middle to score Madison Smith who was on third.

After the run scored, the Vikings put their ace, Erika Quint, into the game for relief. The rest of the game remained a pitcher's duel as Quint allowed one hit in her 3.1 innings pitched and struck out five. Yellowjacket starter Amanda Todd allowed just one run on four hits today, but gave up three runs on seven hits and struck out five for the game.

Offensively for the MSUB, Nicole Colpron led the way going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. Lee had the other RBI for the Jackets as the senior went 1-for-2 in the game.

Game 2 MSUB 5 – WWU 4

Western staked out a four run cushion in the second game of the afternoon with two runs in the third and sixth innings off of Todd who started the second game for the Yellowjackets as well.

Playing as the home team in the final game due to the makeup game from last weekend in Billings, MSUB struck back in the bottom of the sixth inning with four big runs. Lee continued her solid day with a double to left center to lead-off the inning.

After two quick outs, Kaycee Hoffman blasted her 13th home run of the season to cut the lead back down to 4-2. Meg Harasymczuk then singled to third base and advanced to second on a throwing error. After a Kelly Parsons walk, Rose Harrington was brought on to pinch-run.

In the next at bat, Quint threw a wild pitch that allowed the runners to move to second and third. Smith then singled back up the middle with a timely hit to score Harasymczuk and move Harrington over to third. She would later score in the next at bat when she stole home to tie the game at 4-4.

After a scoreless seventh and eighth inning, Lee walked to the plate and drove her pitch into right center field for her third home run of the season. The junior finished the game going 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Hoffman and Tarn Potter both finished the game going 2-for-4, while Hoffman scored a run and batted in two. Kasie Conder picked up the win, pitching 2.2 innings in relief and allowing just three hits. Todd threw 6.1 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits with four strikeouts.

The Yellowjackets continue their road trip tomorrow afternoon in Burnaby, B.C., as they take on Simon Fraser University at 1 p.m. The doubleheader is the final road test of the season for the Yellowjackets and can be followed on the SFU live stats link: http://cgi.sfu.ca/~athlwww/livestats/softball/xlive.htm
