BILLINGS, Mont. -- The Montana State Billings softball team took a big step in completely turning their season around after taking two of three games from the No.19 ranked Vikings of Western Washington Sunday afternoon in Great Northwest Athletic Conference tripleheader action.
The Yellowjackets dropped the first game 7-2 as Erika Quint became the first Vikings pitcher in school history with a 20-win season, but fought back to win the final two games, 7-5 and 6-4.
The Jackets are now 17-18 on the season and are now 12-11 in GNAC play after winning 13 of their last 19 following a 5-11 start. The Vikings fell to 27-7 on the year and 15-4 in the conference after dropping back-to-back games for the first time this season.
“Today the girls did an amazing job of making adjustments at the plate and playing tough defense,” said head coach
Lisa Allen. “The first game was a little rough because we had three errors and gave up too many walks. In the second and third games the girls came out strong and played great games overall.
Amanda Todd did just what we needed her to do in the circle to keep our team in the game in game two, and
Annaleisha Parsley came back in game three to throw, and made the adjustments that she needed to make to be successful.
Kasie Conder did extremely well, coming in to get the save and
Nicole Colpron had an amazing day at the plate and at third for us today, she really stepped up. Overall today was a very successful day and we are proud of the team.”
