BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings softball team swept a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader against Saint Martin's University Sunday afternoon at Cenex Stadium.  The Jackets won the opener convincingly with a 10-1 win in five innings and needed some late-inning heroics for a 10-7 win in the nightcap.  With the wins, the Jackets won three-of-four against the Saints and improved to 12-13 overall and 10-10 in conference play, while SMU fell to 3-14 overall and 2-10 in conference play.

For the twin bill sophomore Becca Frank went a perfect 5 for 5 with five runs scored and two RBIs.  Junior Meg Harasymczuk went 4 for 7 with four runs scored, two home runs and seven RBI, while senior Kelly Parsons also was 4 for 6 with a run scored and a home run to go along with four RBIs.

The Jackets dominated offensively to the tune of outscoring the Saints 20-8 and hit a whopping .436 on 24 of 55 and five home runs.  The Jacket staff held SMU to just .213 hitting allowing just 10 hits in 47 at bats.

MSUB plated five runs in the first two innings of the opener as Parsons singled to left scoring two runs in the first.  Then it was two costly errors by the Saints that plated three more runs in the second as Frank singled and advanced to third on an error for two RBIs. Harasymczuk then reached on a fielder's choice for the 5-0 lead.

Harasymczuk belted her first of two home runs – a three run shot in the fourth for an 8-0 lead and Parsons matched her two a two-run bomb later in the inning for a 10 advantage as the Jackets settled for a 10-1 win.

Big run frames were the name of the game in the nightcap as the Jackets jumped out to a 5-0 lead with plating five runs in the third.  Back-to-back pitches tallied two home runs by seniors Kaycee Hoffman and Tarn Potter, respectively, for a 5-0 lead.

The Saints cut into the deficit in the fourth plating two runs courtesy of a bases loaded fielder's choice and a bases loaded walk for a 5-2 score.

MSUB increased the lead to 6-2 in the fourth, but the Saints scored five times in the sixth to take a 7-6 lead.  A sacrifice fly scored the first run, followed by a two RBI double down the left field line and a two-run home run.

The lead was short lived, however, as Harasymczuk had the last laugh with a two run home run in the bottom of the frame as the Jackets regained the lead for good.  The added two more runs as sophomore Kacie Conder (6-4) picked up the win in relief of junior Annaleisha Parsley.

The Jackets head to the Tournament of Champions this week in Turlock, Calif., April 1-3.  The will then return home to host Western Washington Apr. 9-10 in a four-game series at Cenex Stadium.
