Nelson is set to commence her first season coaching with the Yellowjackets in the 2025-26 season.
Nelson begins her coaching career following an illustreus playing career with MSUB, spanning from 2020-2025. Over her five season career, Nelson recorded a total of 133 games played, second most in program history, along with 120 starts. She scored 1,113 career points in her career. Nelson's 741 rebounds, 457 assists, and 54 career steals all rank inside the top ten in program history. Nelson received All-GNAC honors four times in her collegiate career, earning All-GNAC Honorable Mention honors in 2021-22, before going on to earn three consucutive All-GNAC Second Team awards in her sophomore through senior seasons. In 2023-24, Nelson was honored with the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year award, becoming the second Yellowjacket in program history to receive the award. Nelson helped the Yellowjackets qualify for four GNAC Tournaments in her five seasons, along with a GNAC Regular Season Title in 2023-24. MSUB also qualified for three NCAA West Regionals with Nelson on the roster, with Nelson serving as a key piece of the 2023-24 Sweet Sixteen group. She was named to the West Regional All-Tournament Team in 2023-24.
Nelson also excelled in the classroom in her Yellowjacket career, earning Academic All-GNAC Honors four times, and CSC Academic All-District honors three times. Nelson graduated with her undergraduate degree from MSUB in 2024 in Education. She is in the second year of her master's program in school counseling.
