Sonya Stokken enters her first season as an assistant coach with the MSUB women's basketball team in the 2026-27 season.
A former assistant coach at University of Montana, Stokken coach from 2013-2019 with the Lady Griz. During her tenure as assistant coach, she helped lead Montana to three seasons of 20+ wins under legendary head coach Robin Selvig, including a trip to the Women's National Invitation Tournament in 2013-2014, before following that season up with both Big Sky Regular Season and Tournament Championships in 2014-15, leading to an appearance at the  NCAA Tournament.
Stokken, nee Rogers, played four seasons with the Lady Griz from 2005-2009, finished her career as one of the top three-point shooters in the history of the program. She ranks 11th in program history with 1,320 points, and led the nation in 3-point accuracy as a junior (.486) and knocked down 206 threes for her career. Her teams that finished with a combined record of 101-23 and won Big Sky Conference regular-season championships three times from 2007-2009, along with two Big Sky Tournament Championships. Montana advanced to the NCAA tournament in 2008 and ‘09, Stokken’s junior and senior seasons, and played in the WNIT in 2007. Stokken was second-team All-Big Sky Conference as a sophomore, honorable mention as a junior and first team as a senior, when she averaged 13.6 points per game.
