Taylor Olsen begins her seventh season as the assistant softball coach for the Yellowjackets in 2023-24.
In 2018, the Yellowjackets went 23-24 overall and 13-13 in GNAC play to finish in fifth place. Olsen helped coach Heather Tracy to All-American status during the 2018 season as well.
Prior to MSUB, Olsen served for three seasons as the assistant coach at NJCAA Division I Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas.
During the 2015-2016 season, Olsen coached the team to a school record .311 batting average. With the Plainsmen, Olsen coached eight WJCAC Conference Commissioner Honor Roll athletes, and two NFCA All-American Scholar Athletes.
Outside of coaching responsibilities, Olsen was on the events committee, and in charge of residential housing. Olsen was also involved in community softball leagues, and providing private instructional lessons and clinics to athletes of all ages.
Olsen completed her master’s degree in business administration at Chadron State College in May of 2019.
Olsen graduated from Northwood University in Cedar Hill, Texas with a bachelor’s degree in business management with a concentration in entertainment and sports. While at Northwood, Jones competed on the softball team and was a four-time all-conference selection. Some of her accomplishments include being named Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2011, and Red River Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2012. Olsen still holds the RRAC single-season batting average record of .512 from the 2013 season.
Northwood won three conference championships, and made two trips to the NAIA World Series during Olsen’s playing career. In 2013, Olsen won Northwood’s Academic Athlete of the Year award.
