Track and Field: Season best mile time 4:23.95 for ninth place finish at Jacksons Invitational Feb 1-2...Took second place in the 1500 meters at the Yellowjacket/Battlin Bears Open March 30 with a time of 4:05.92...16th place at GNAC Indoor Championships for mile run (4:29.85).
Cross Country: Ran five races after redshirting the previous season...Had two top-20 finishes...Ran a season best 10K time of 33:03.74 at the NCAA West Region Championships and finished 81st.
2017-18:
Cross Country: Redshirted.
Outdoor Track: Placed 10th at the GNAC meet in the 1,500-meter with a collegiate-best time of 4:00.13...ran the 800 and 4x400-meter relay during the season. During the indoor season, Hovland ran the mile, 4x400-relay and the distance medley relay at the GNAC Championships...placed 14th in the conference with a collegiate-best 4:27.86 mile.
2016-17:
Cross Country: Top-5 finisher for MSUB in every event...three top-15 finishes...placed 11th twice, at Gage McSpadden Invite (6K, 21:-1.1) and Yellowjacket Invite (10K, 33:25.12)...GNAC Championships fifth for team (8K), 50th in 26:51.70...NCAA West Region Championships (10K), fourth for the team and 101st in 32:58.86.
Track and Field: Ran the 800 and mile while teaming up for the 4x400-meter and distance medley relays...clocked a season-best 1:59.89 in the 800 while finishing fourth at the Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bear Open...took first in the 800 at the 2017 Conglomerate with a time of 2:02.35...helped the 'Jackets earn a pair of second-place finishes in the 4x400 and the DMR at the Mountain State Games.
2015-16:
Cross Country: Placed 5th in opening race of season at Moda Health Alaska 8K in 27:25.1...finished 13th in 5K two days later in 16:39.2...placed 45 at GNAC Championships in 26:57.70...finished 92nd at NCAA west region championships in 32.28.01.
Track and Field: Redshirted.
2014-15:
Cross Country: As a true freshman, competed in seven races for MSUB...best finish was placing 11th at the Yellowjacket Invitational, crossing the tape in 27:28.25...also had two top-30 finishes during the season...at the Carroll College Invite he placed 22nd (20:48.98), and at the Black Hills State Invitational placed 24th (30:33.89)...at the GNAC Championships, placed 60th in 27:18.8...at the NCAA Division II west region, finished in 119th place in 34:34.3.
Track and Field: Best marks in indoor mile (4:36.91) and 3,000 meters (9:24.03) and in the outdoor in the 800 meters (1:56.45)…GNAC Indoor Championships earned all-conference honor as member of DMR team that placed third in 10:24.32…second place at home meet in 800 meters in 1:57.99.

Billings West High School: Four-year letter winner in cross country and track and field...at West High, was a member of the 2011-12 divisional and state champion teams...was on the 2012-13 cross country third place team, the 2012-13 track and field third place team and the 2012-13 track and field divisional champion team...in 2011, was the USATF cross country athlete of the year (Intermediate Boys), he was the 2013-14 West High MVP in cross country and he received the Iron Bear Award for track and field...at the state meet , placed sixth in the 800m run and was 14th at the state cross country meet...member of the National Honor Society and an academic all-state selection all four years from 2010-14.
