2018: In second season with MSUB battled injury while appearing in 10 games and starting a pair…played 396 total minutes for an average of 39.6 per match…took one shot…played a season-high 90 minutes on Nov. 3 against Simon Fraser.

2017: Made five starts and competed in 18 matches in first season with the ‘Jackets…playing as a central midfielder, contributed a pair of assists for two total points…took seven shots and placed two on target…played 689 total minutes…reached a season-high 77 minutes on Aug. 31 against Westminster.

Bozeman High School: Was a four-year letterwinner under head coach Hunter Terry…helped the team to a perfect 15-0 record in senior season, as a team captain who led the squad to a state title…earned all-state honors as both a junior and senior as an outside forward and attacking midfielder.
 
Coach Balog on Phillips: "Sam is a player we have been following for a long time, since his high-school career at Bozeman. He is now coming home after a stint at Humboldt State, and we very much look forward to having him in our program. Sam's technical abilities are a good match with our style of play. Having a quality Montana player come back is another sign we are on the right track."
