Nich Pertuit begins his fourth year as the head strength and conditioning coach. He is responsible for constructing and implementing strategic conditioning programs for MSUB’s 15 varsity athletic programs.
Previously, Pertuit served as an adjunct professor of health and human performance at MSUB and Rocky Mountain College in 2013-14.
He is also currently the director of sports performance for Granite Health and Fitness in Billings, and is the kicker for the San Jose Sabercats of the Arena Football League. In his fourth season in the AFL, Pertuit currently leads all kickers in points, field goal percentage, extra-point percentage and overall rating, and has been invited to NFL camps.
Pertuit previously spent 2.5 years as an assistant professor of kinesiology in the University of Texas system. He has served as a strength and conditioning consultant for numerous NCAA Division I and II athletic programs, and has worked with athletes at all levels in many different parts of the United States.
Pertuit holds a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in health, exercise, and sport sciences from Texas Tech University. He also has a master’s degree in kinesiology, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) as recognized by the NSCA.
Earning his bachelor’s degree in physical education at University of the Incarnate Word (San Antonio, Texas), Pertuit was also an all-American soccer player and three-year captain. He went on to play soccer at the semi-pro level after his undergraduate studies.
A native of Billings, Pertuit graduated from Billings Senior High School as valedictorian and a two-time all-state and state champion soccer player.
Pertuit is married to his wife Laura Hollister, also a Billings native.
