Personal: Son of John and Doreen Gates...Went to Billings West High School where he was named the most improved golfer in 2005-06 and carded a 76.5 scoring average during his senior year...helped lead West High School to the 2004 state championship...He was named the 2006 Rocky Mountain Second Pepsi Junior Series Player of the Year...majoring in environmental studies.
Fall 2009: Had a 79.2 stroke average in the fall in 10 rounds ... Fired a fall low-round of 72 at the Carroll College Invitational.
2008-2009: Opened the season with a 228 score playing as an individual at the Carroll College Invitational...Followed that up with a 212 score helping the Yellowjackets tie for first at the Rocky Mountain Invitational ... Carded a 76.4 stroke average for the year in 16 rounds.
