Kyle Erickson is in his first year with the Yellowjacket men's basketball team after spending the past season playing and coaching basketball in Italy.
A Broadview, MT native, Erickson enjoyed a successful playing career at the University of Montana Western in Dillon, MT where he played along side follow assistant coach JC Isakson. He was named an NAIA All-American after an outstanding season in 2011-12.
Erickson jumped straight into coaching following his playing career as he got his start as an assistant for the Montana Western's women's team. He then landed at Miles City Community College where he worked he worked as an assistant for the men's program for two seasons before making his way to Billings where he spent a season on the Rocky Mountain College women's basketball staff.Â
Given the opportunity to play again, Erickson left Billings for Italy where he averaged 15.2 points per game with Fulgor Fidenza while continuing to coach for the Parma Tigers.
"I came back to Billings because I had a strong relationship with coach Isakson and I had known coach Stevens just from being a part of the Montana basketball community," Erickson said of joining the 'Jackets. "Coaching has always been my passion, this was a great fit for me and I wasn't sure how much longer I was going to be able to play in Italy."
