Treasure Valley Community College: As a sophomore in 2017 started 11 games and ranked second on the team with 63 1/3 innings pitched…totaled 56 strikeouts and a 2.84 ERA while going 4-2 on the year…at the plate batted .276 in 170 at-bats…led team with seven home runs and 30 RBIs…added in nine doubles and stole seven bases…scored 33 runs and had 45 hits in 46 games played offensively…first-team all-NWAC utility player…as a freshman in 2016 carried a 2.03 ERA in 14 starts…led team with 85 strikeouts in 75 1/3 innings pitched…logged one complete game and an overall record of 10-3…at the plate had a .259 batting average in 58 at-bats…drove in 13 runs and had seven doubles…first-team all-league pitcher in the NWAC. Marist Catholic High School:
Two-year letter winner on the diamond as both a pitcher and first baseman…was named Mid-West League Pitcher of the Year and a gold glove winner as a sophomore…first-team all-league first baseman as a junior…second-team all-state pitcher during senior year…also competed in football for the Spartans, playing quarterback and middle linebacker.

Coach Waddoups on Cantwell: "Tanner has game changing ability at the plate.  He is a cerebral hitter that understands the game and how to approach hitting.  He has continued to grow defensively and really picked it well helping out our entire infield."

Cantwell on choosing MSUB: “I chose to transfer to MSUB because of the way the baseball team plays the game. Coach Sutton, who was my former coach at TVCC, is a great coach who gets the best out of his players. The team plays hard and is willing to do anything needed in order to be successful on and off the field.”
