Biography

2009: Played in 43 games with 37 starts on the year...Hit .214 with 27 hits, 25 runs and 11 RBI...Had a team-best six steals on the year (6-10)...Walked 16 times which was third-most on the team...Went a season-best 4 of 4 with two runs and three RBI versus Univeristy of Mary (3/2).

2008: Saw action in 20 games with eight starts...Carded a .357 average with 10 hits, one double, three RBI an 11 total bases...Slugged .393 for the year...Stole one base and was 17 of 18 in fielding opportunities.

2007: Played in 15 games and started three with a .455 average...Had five hits in 11 at bats...Score seven runs and had a .455 slugging percentage...Was 1 for 1 in stolen bases with 19 put outs in 23 attempts and no errors.

Freshman Season (2006): Redshirted.

Patch Wirtzberger is a 2005 graduate of Havre High School.  Wirtzberger was a player for the Havre Northstars before enrolling at Montana State-Billings.  He is the son of Cal and Kim Wirtzberger of Havre.

Wirtzberger is an accounting major.

"Patch gives us a versatile athlete that has a high upside," said Yellowjacket head coach Chris Brown.  "He is a good runner that is just starting to tap into his physical abilities as a player.  We look forward to having Patch be a part of the program for a long time.  He is a smart player that comes from a very good baseball community  and program.  He is also a hard worker that will make positive contributions on and off the field."
