Rio Rancho High School: Winter won two letters under coach Ron Murphy at Rio Rancho High School. He was also recognized all four years as an academic standout and was selected to the all-tournament team in the New Mexico Invite tournament. Winter led the Rams in almost every offensive category: 12 doubles, .448 OBP, .523 SLG, 2 HRs, and .971 OPS.

Coach Waddoups on Winter: "Mitch is one of our best club house guys.  He has a powerful left-handed swing that will help this line up for years to come.  He has the ability to change the game with one swing every time he walks to the plate."

Winter on choosing MSUB: "After attending a couple camps and getting to know Coach Sutton and his philosophy, I knew right away that I wanted to attend MSUB. The coaches are very knowledgeable of the game and have a winning attitude and want to see their players grow both academically and on the field. I am very excited to attend this university, as well as be a part of the baseball team."
