Ryan Wright

Ryan Wright begins his fourth year as an assistant baseball coach in 2019-20.
 
Wright helped lead the Yellowjackets to their fourth regular-season title in the last five seasons. He also helped lead MSUB to its first-ever GNAC Championships title, and the program’s first-ever berth into the NCAA Division II West Region Championships.
 
The Yellowjackets tied the school record for wins in 2019, going 33-20 overall, and broke the GNAC record for conference wins as they went 30-20 in league play. MSUB also broke its own GNAC record for home runs in a year with 83, and broke the GNAC record for pitching strikeouts with 447. Under Wright’s guidance, Daniel Cipriano became the second consensus All-American in program history, the second player in GNAC history to win the Triple Crown, and the second player in school history to win GNAC Player of the Year honors.
 
MSUB won a school record 33 games in 2018, and claimed its third GNAC regular-season title in the last four years with Wright’s assistance. For the second straight season, the team broke the school record for home runs, this time also topping the GNAC single-season mark with an incredible 78 on the year. MSUB’s offense also broke the GNAC single-season record for runs per game with 8.41, and topped the GNAC record for team slugging percentage at .536.
 
Working primarily with the offense in 2017, Wright helped the ‘Jackets break the MSUB single-season home run record with 44 on the year. He also assisted on a team that advanced to the GNAC Championships for the third consecutive season.
 
Wright completed his master’s degree in public relations at MSUB in the spring of 2019.

He spent the 2015-2016 season coaching at Capital High School in Boise, Idaho, while finishing his undergraduate degree at Boise State University. He was a former student-athlete under current MSUB head coach Aaron Sutton at Treasure Valley Community College.
 
Originally from Fruitland, Idaho, Wright’s collegiate career included stops at the University of Utah, TVCC, and Oklahoma City University. During Wright’s two years at OCU, he batted .320 with 20 doubles, six triples, and four home runs. In his senior season, he helped the Stars to a No. 1 national ranking going into the NAIA regional tournament, as well as garnered second-team academic All-American honors. 
 
Prior to OCU, Wright attended Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Ore., where he played second base for the Chukars. During his sophomore season, Wright received the NWAACC Scholar Athlete of the Year award and was a part of the first Treasure Valley baseball team to win both regular and postseason NWAACC East Region titles.
 
Wright attended Fruitland High School, where he was coached by his father, Russ Wright. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boise State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. He is currently working on his master’s degree in sports management from Missouri Baptist University.
