Matt Hape

Matt Hape begins his sixth season as an assistant coach with the baseball team in 2023-24.
 
In 2019, Hape helped the Yellowjackets claim their fourth GNAC regular-season title in the last five years, win their first-ever GNAC Championships title, and advance to the NCAA D2 West Region Championships for the first time in school history.
 
Hape pitched for the Yellowjackets for two seasons in 2016 and 2017, making 23 total appearances including 22 starts and three complete games. Hape logged 90 1/3 innings pitched.
 
Prior to his career at MSUB, Hape pitched for two seasons at Salt Lake Community College where he went 7-0 with a 3.46 ERA in 65 innings pitched as a sophomore in 2015. He held the opposition to a .231 batting average that year and appeared in 14 games with 13 starts.
 
Hape attended Bozeman High School where he was an all-state outfielder and pitcher. He had 98 strikeouts in 72 innings while batting .443 with five home runs in his best prep season.
 
Hape is a native of Bozeman, Montana, and graduated from MSUB with a degree in psychology after the 2017 season and completed his master’s degree in psychology in 2022.
