Grant Hamilton begins his second year as an assistant coach with the Yellowjackets’ baseball team in 2018-19. Hamilton is primarily responsible for MSUB’s pitching staff.
In his first year as an assistant coach, Hamilton helped the Yellowjackets claim the 2018 GNAC regular-season title and win a program-record 33 games. Under his guidance, MSUB’s pitching staff broke the school single-season records for strikeouts (386), innings pitched (418.0), strikeouts per 9 innings (8.31), and saves (11).
Hamilton most recently served as a volunteer coach at Oklahoma City University, where he completed his collegiate playing career. During his senior season with the Stars in 2016, Hamilton compiled a 4.10 ERA in 41 2/3 innings pitched while making 21 appearances. He competed alongside current MSUB assistant coach Ryan Wright for a team that reached a No. 1 ranking in the NAIA.
Hamilton began his collegiate career at Butler Community College in Kansas. Hamilton also played summer ball in the Northwoods League, where he was an all-star and the strikeout leader.
Hamilton is a native of Oklahoma City, Okla., and attended Bethany High School.
