Feature Story: Miller's career a cornerstone for Yellowjacket Baseball

2015:
Completed greatest career in MSUB history…NCBWA and Daktronics third-team All-American and first-team all-West region…GNAC Male Athlete of the Year...GNAC Player of the Year for second season in a row in unanimous fashion after leading the conference in home runs (14) and RBIs (59)…first-team all-GNAC pick for second season in a row…batted .355 in 50 starts while getting on base at .455 and slugging .670…led the GNAC in total bases (132), ranked second in runs scored (47), doubles (20), slugging percentage (.670), and walks (36), and fourth in hits (70) and on-base percentage (.455)…earned NCBWA West Region Player of the Week after arguably the greatest four-game series in GNAC history in which he homered four times with two grand slams, three doubles and 14 RBIs…two-time GNAC Player of the Week selection…started a game-ending triple play that reached No. 3 on ESPN SportsCenter Top-10 plays…drew GNAC record 13 intentional walks…hit into just one double play in more than 240 plate appearances…picked as the MSUB Male Athlete of the Year and Baseball Player of the Year at the Buzzies…finished career No. 1 in GNAC history in walks (114), No. 2 in total bases (386), assists (489), and starts (193), No. 3 in hits (255), at-bats (710), home runs (26) and RBIs (165), No. 4 in games (193) and doubles (51), and No. 7 in runs scored (140)…set MSUB single-season records for runs (47), doubles (20), home runs (14), RBIs (59), total bases (132), and slugging percentage (.670)…set 14 MSUB career records.

2014: Recorded one of the best seasons in MSUB history and became the Yellowjackets’ first-ever all-American…Daktronics Divsiion II first-team all-region and NCBWA all-region…GNAC Player of the Year…started all 46 games…recorded a .392 batting average, .498 on-base percentage, and a .591 slugging percentage…had 34 RBIs and six home runs…No. 1 on the team in batting average…drew 34 walks and scored 37 runs…recorded 20 multi-hit games and had two four-hit performances…twenty-two of his 67 hits went for extra bases including 16 doubles…named to the first-team all-conference team.
 
2013: Started 48 of 49 contests…in 180 at-bats registered 63 hits, nine doubles, one triple, four home runs, 41 RBIs, 35 runs and 86 total bases…in the GNAC finished ranking No. 5 in on-base percentage (.423) and RBIs, No. 6 in batting average (.350), No. 7 in total bases, No. 8 in runs scored, hits and home runs, and No. 10 in slugging percentage (.478)…defensively posted a .955 fielding percentage with 73 putouts and 116 assists…led the team in batting average, and ranked No. 2 in hits, on-base percentage and RBIs…received Red Lion GNAC Player of the Week and NCBWA West Region Player of the Week honors for the week of Apr. 1-7…earned second-team all-GNAC honors.

2012: Started all 46 games for the Yellowjackets and had a team high 170 plate appearances…finished with a .288 batting average, .329 slugging percentage and .359 on-base percentage…had 49 hits, 20 runs, four doubles, one home run, two stolen bases and 24 runs batted in…in the GNAC ranked 25th among all hitters…on the team ranked first in games played and started, second in hits and runs batted in, third in batting average and on-base percentage, fourth in total bases, fifth in runs scored, home runs and sixth in slugging percentage…defensively, recorded 72 putouts, 97 assists and a fielding percentage of .939.

Sentinel High School: Played football and lettered for two years...placed sixth at the Montana State DECA Conference in Sports Management competition in 2010...excelled playing for the Missoula Mavericks mainly at second base helping his team to the state championship in 2010 and a third-place finish at regionals...the Mavericks finished the 2010 season with an impressive 66-11 record...earned all-conference honors for three years and was an all-state selection in 2010...as a senior, led the team in just about every offensive category, including hits (146), RBIs (126), doubles (37) and home runs (17)...broke single-season records in at bats (303), hits, RBIs, home runs and total bases with 248...hit .482 to lead the team and slugged an impressive .818, while belting a team-high 61 extra-base hits.
