TAX DEDUCTIBILITY FAQ'S
Q: If I purchase season tickets or a booster club membership, is it tax deductible?
A: No. According to the IRS, donors who make a contribution to or for the benefit of a college or university in exchange for the right to purchase tickets or seating at an athletic event in the University's stadium cannot take a charitable deduction. Many of our booster club memberships are a greater value than the membership fee being paid, therefore not tax deductible.
Q: If I make a charitable donation to the Yellowjacket Athletic Association or decline my booster club benefits, is that tax deductible?
A: Yes! If you are not receiving any goods/tickets/services in exchange for your donation, then it becomes tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor to determine the specifics of your individual situation and retain all gift receipts for your records.
Q: Where will my tax receipt come from?
A: All tax receipts come from the MSUB Foundation.
Q: Are endowments tax deductible?
A: Yes. Please consult your tax advisor to determine the specifics of your individual situation and retain all gift receipts for your records.
