2018: Led the team in digs for second straight season with 540 (4.54 digs per set)...played 119 sets as a sophomore...Led the team in service aces with 36 good for 13th in the GNAC...10 matches with 20 or more digs including a season best 31 against Rocky Mountain College.

2017: Honorable mention all-GNAC…as the starting libero, set the MSUB record with 622 digs as a freshman...led the conference with 5.76 digs per set and ranked fifth with 0.33 aces per set...recorded five matches with more than 30 digs including a season-best 38 against Minnesota State University Moorhead...led the team with 36 service aces and played in all 30 matches...one of two players to play in all 108 sets in the 2017 season. 

Dumas High School: Two-sport student-athlete for Dumas High School…was a guard on the basketball team and a four-year member of the volleyball squad as a defensive specialist and libero…was the 2014 and 2015 District Defensive Player of the Year…was named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association all-state team in 2015…was a Texas Sports Writers Association all-state pick for 2015 and was named to the Amarillo Globe News Super Team…freshman season, served 13 consecutive points to clinch a playoff spot for the Demonettes, on her way to being named the TGCA All State/Defensive Player of the Year.
 
Coach Williams on Alvarez: "Izela is a one-of-a-kind defender. She comes from a strong high school program in Texas and is one of the scrappiest players that I have seen in a while. I have watched Izela play for the past couple of years and she continues to improve her skillset. She is a go-getter and will help us next year on defense."
