PORTLAND, Ore. – The Montana State University Billings softball team had nine of it's student-athletes recognized on Wednesday as members of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball Academic All-Conference Team, presented by Barnes & Noble College.
Five multi-year selections headlined the Yellowjacket's list of honorees, alongside four first-time selections for the team. To qualify for academic all-conference, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20, must be in at least their second season competing for their team and must have competed on the field during the 2026 campaign.
Junior
Kendall Klemp was one of three players in the conference to receive the honor with a perfect 4.0 GPA, maintaining the mark while majoring in elementary education. Klemp, who earned the honor for the second time in her career, has played in 23 games this season, making 11 starts while smacking her first career home run, and totaling two RBIs.
Behind her,
Alexis Tovar earned her third career academic all-conference honor, with the senior holding a 3.49 GPA while majoring in psychology. On the field, Tovar has seen time in 25 games, collecting seven hits with a homer and six RBIs. Fellow senior
Elaina Troxell was honored for the second time in her career, holding a 3.28 GPA while majoring in business. Meanwhile, fellow pitcher
Shelby Wasilewski and two-way player
Ashley Akers also received Academic All-GNAC honors for the second time in their career, with Wasilewski holding a 3.92 GPA while working towards her degree in health & human performance, and Akers earning a 3.71 GPA while majoring in communications. On the field this season, Troxell has pitched in three games, Wasilewski has pitched 11 times for a total of 22 innings, including one start, while Akera leads the team in innings pitched at 46.1, collecting two wins and a save while also batting .250 with six hits, three runs, a homer, and five RBIs.
The Yellowjacket's four first-time Academic All-GNAC selections are each sophomores, led by
Emily Brevig who has maintained a 3.66 GPA while working towards a degree in health & human performance. On the field, Brevig has gone a perfect 4-4 on steals this season, while collecting five hits. Alongside her is the Missoula duo of
Kennedy Dypwick and
Grace Hood, who earned GPA's of 3.59 and 3.56 respectively. Dypwick, who majors in biology, was batting .33 through MSUB's first series of the year before being sidelined due to injury. Meanwhile Hood, a business major, has stepped up to be the top power threat on the 'Jackets roster this season, hitting a team-high five home runs and 17 RBIs this season, adding on 12 runs and batting .272 for the season. Rounding out the 'Jackets honorees is
Avery Gray, who has earned a 3.57 GPA while majoring in health & human performance. Gray has posted three hits at the plate this season, while pitching 37.2 innings in the circle this season, striking out a team-high 25 batters.
The Yellowjackets (2-29, 0-8 GNAC) continue their march through conference play this week on the road in Monmouth, OR, when the team takes on Western Oregon in a pair of doubleheaders at WOU Softball Field.
