BILLINGS, Mont. – After conquering the mountain and ascending to the top of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, the Montana State University Billings women's basketball team will continue it's magical March in the NCAA West Regionals, with the program earning it's spot in the tournament as the No. 8 seed.
 
The Yellowjackets (20-14, 9-9 GNAC) played spoiler last week as the last seed in the GNAC Championships, defeating the top three seeds in the conference tournament on their way to claiming the team's second ever GNAC Championship crown. With their ticket punched for the national tournament for the fourth consecutive season, the 'Jackets will find themselves in a similar situation at this year's NCAA West Regionals, with the team coming in ranked as the No. 8 seed. MSUB is set to head to Ellensburg, WA, where it will open the week's action against the No. 1 seed and tournament hosts Central Washington University, who the 'Jackets upset in the semifinals of the conference tournament during their conference tournament run.
 
Along with the being the program's fourth consecutive trip to the West Regionals, the appearance marks the program's 18^th appearance all-time, and ninth during the tenure of head coach Kevin Woodin. In those trips under Woodin, the 'Jackets have won eight games at the West Regionals, including a pair of trips to the Sweet Sixteen in 2013-14 and 2023-24, and a regional win and trip to the Elite Eight in the 2017-18 season, the last time MSUB had won a GNAC Championship before this season.
 
The first round of regional action is set for Friday, March 13 at Nicholson Pavillion. Tip off time for the Yellowjacket's opening round contest against the Wildcats is still to be announced.
