PORTLAND, Ore.- The Montana State University Billings men's basketball players
Pedro Ellery and
Cooper Tyson were named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic All-GNAC team, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
A total of 35 players from Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball teams earned academic all-conference presented by Barnes & Noble College.
To qualify for academic all-conference, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20, must be in at least their second season competing for their team and must have competed on the court during the 2025-26 season.
Sophomore guard
Cooper Tyson paced the Yellowjackets academically, posting a 3.60 cumulative GPA as a business marketing major. The Billings native has continued to build on his freshman season, already matching last year's 20 game appearances while logging 121 minutes this season. Tyson has totaled 20 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and three steals, and has been efficient when called upon, shooting 53 percent from the field and an impressive 50 percent from 3-point range.
Senior guard
Pedro Ellery also earned a spot on the academic all-conference list, carrying a 3.56 GPA while majoring in business management. The Nottingham, England native has played a key role off the bench for MSUB this season, appearing in 26 games and averaging 14.3 minutes per contest. Ellery has scored 95 points on the year and has been one of the team's top perimeter threats, shooting 41 percent from beyond the arc (24-for-59) while also converting 13 of his 18 free-throw attempts. In addition to his scoring, Ellery has contributed 23 rebounds, 18 assists and seven steals, providing valuable depth and energy in the Yellowjackets' rotation.
