Gurske Named GNAC Player of the Week

| By:
PORTLAND, Ore.- After helping lead the Montana State University Billings men's basketball team to a 1–1 record last week, junior guard Miles Gurske has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week following two highly efficient offensive performances.

The Bremerton, Washington native totaled 48 points on the week, averaging 24 points per game. Gurske posted a career-high 32 points against Central Washington before adding 16 points in the Yellowjackets' 87–82 victory over Northwest Nazarene. His 32-point outing surpassed his previous career high by eight points and included a personal best 10 made field goals.

"Miles really got into a nice rhythm last week," said head coach Luke Fennelly. His ability to finish at the rim really opened up other opportunities for him to score, and his teammates did a nice job of finding him. I am proud of the work he has put in, and it is nice to see Miles find his stride."

Gurske's scoring came with remarkable efficiency, as he shot 15-of-23 from the field (65 percent), knocked down 4-of-8 attempts from three-point range (50 percent), and went 14-of-16 at the free-throw line (88 percent). Beyond scoring, he made his presence felt on both ends of the floor, adding nine rebounds, six assists, and six steals over the two-game stretch.

In conference play, Gurske ranks seventh in the GNAC in scoring at 18.1 points per game and fifth in steals at 2.0 per game. On the season, he sits seventh in the league in free-throw percentage (81 percent), fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2), and fourth in steals (2.1).

UP NEXT: The Yellowjackets head north to the last frontier, taking on Alaska Fairbanks on January 22 and Alaska Anchorage on January 24 with both games set to tipoff at 9:30 p.m. (MT).
