Billings, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings women's soccer program defeated the Minot State Beavers 2-1 in a Saturday night showdown in Billings. The rain managed to hold off and the Jackets' picked up their first win of the season along with many other firsts, while handing the Beavers their third straight loss.
The first half proved to be a battle on defense, each squad staying scoreless up to the half. MSUB recorded three shots and Minot only two. Minot would strike first just after five minutes into the second half. Junior forward Keilani Broadnax for the Beavers connected on a shot off a rebound to put her team ahead. The lead would hold for another thirteen minutes, until MSUB freshman
Kambryn Smith would score on a breakaway to even up the score. The goal marks her first as a Yellowjacket in just her third collegiate match. Just three minutes later, the Jacket's would take their first lead of the year on a top-shelf shot that snuck just under the crossbar from
Cesia Swain. The goal marks the first of Swain's Yellowjacket career as well.
Nyah Attaway was credited with the assist on the long cross-ball in, recording her first career assist at MSUB. After the early Minot State goal, second-half goalkeeper
