| By:
BILLINGS, Mont.- The Montana State University Billings golf teams competed in their Rimrock Rivalry matchup against Rocky Mountain College for their annual Mike Grob/Leslie Spalding Cup. The cup was a three-day team match play event, consisting of four ball, alternate shot, and singles matches. After heading into the final day tied up on both sides of the ball, it was RMC taking home the Mike Grob Cup 11-9 and the Leslie Spalding Cup 9-7.

Monday – Four Ball
The opening day of the Grob/Spalding was hosted by RMC at Yegan Golf Club, home course of the Battlin' Bears. Shocking the field was the Yellowjacket men taking the 3-2 advantage in the first round. Despite having seven of their 10 players making their MSUB debut, the 'Jackets were able to take the early lead. Claiming points was Kaopun Akmaneenin and Ryan Badger winning their match two up, Ryder Conner and Aubrey Kelley edged out a one up victory, and Cameron Hackmann and Bowdie Fox brought them home with a 2&1 victory.

On the women's side, the lady Battlin' Bears took an early 2.5-1.5 advantage over the 'Jackets. Hannah Adams back from injury teamed up with the one and only Orraya Tipasathien, dominating their way to a 5&4 victory to gain their only full point on the day. Halving their match, Haylee Adams and Pygmy Kompoj clawed back to earn half a point to their total.

Tuesday – Alternate Shot
Day two of the Rimrock Rivalry was hosted by MSUB at their home course, Lake Hills Golf Course. The men flipped the script after the second round of play, with RMC claiming three points and the Yellowjackets taking home two. Pete Netrnilweerachot and freshman Mark Pramounmat won three up while dynamic duo Hackmann and Fox earned their second point of the cup as a two-man team.

The Yellowjacket women also came back to tie up the total at four apiece, winning the day 2.5-1.5 at their home track. No surprise here, Tipasatien and Hannah Adams won their match while Rachel Rerick and Pygmy Kompoj joined with a 2&1 victory. Earning the 'Jackets another half point with a push was Chloe Van Strien and newcomer Kyleigh McGowen.

Wednesday – Singles
The final round singles match tailored to the Battlin' Bears at Laurel Golf Club. Tied up 4-4 heading into day three, Rocky Mountain took five of the eight singles matches to win 9-7. Orraya Tipasathien picked up her third point of the cup, winning 6&5 while Ella Tannenberger won 5&4, and Hannah Adams won 6&5.

Heading into the final round all tied up, the men's side was forced to finish early due to lighting and daylight. The Yellowjacket men unfortunately drew the short straw will the early finish, losing the final round 6-4. Winning their singles matchup was Peyton Toney who was two up  with two to play, Ryder Conner who was three up on hole 15, Bowdie Fox who was also three up on hole 15, and Payton Black who ended his round with a 4&3 victory.

THE BUZZ: Orraya Tipasathien and Bowdie Fox were named Intermountain Health Players of the Cup, both earning a point in all three formats.
