PORTLAND, Ore. – The Montana State University Billings athletic programs were recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2024-25 academic year in the GNAC All-Sports rankings, with the department's women's teams combining for 55 points overall and its men's teams totaling 27 total points.
The Yellowjacket's point totals for both the men's and women's overall scores put MSUB in seventh place in both divisions, giving MSUB an overall finish of seventh place in the combined school scores.
Leading the pack for the Yellowjackets was the women's basketball team, who repeated as Academic Champions for the second consecutive season. The Yellowjackets ranked at the top of all women's basketball teams in the conference with a 3.75 GPA, totaling seven Academic All-GNAC, four CSC Academic All-District, and eight FAR Scholar Athletes. The title marked the seventh time MSUB's women's basketball team under coach Kevin Woodin has won an Academic All-Sports title, breaking a three-way tie to give the 'Jackets the most in the conference's history.
Behind them, a number of MSUB's programs also ranked highly in the conference's GPA rankings. With a 3.60 GPA, the Yellowjacket softball program finished with the second highest GPA in the conference for their sport. Taking a step forward on the field this season, MSUB softball also maintained a high-level performance in the classroom, totaling 11 Academic All-GNAC selections, four CSC Academic All-District honorees, and 14 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete winners. Also finishing in second place was MSUB's baseball program, who finished the academic year with a 3.39 GPA, just .01 points off of tying for first place. Yellowjacket baseball totaled 14 Academic All-Conference selections during the season, along with five Academic All-District selections.
Rounding out the top three program finishes for Yellowjacket Athletics was women's golf, who tied for third place with a 3.41 GPA. MSUB's women's golfers found success both on the course and in the classroom during the 2024-25 year, with four of it's student-athletes earning Academic All-GNAC awards.
